About the preCDD Project

A network for academic drug development

Despite great progress in the field of targeted cancer therapies, many tumor diseases are still considered incurable. There is an urgent medical need for action in the research of new active substances and innovative therapy concepts for rare and difficult-to-treat cancers.

German Cancer Aid has therefore set up a funding priority program to strengthen preclinical drug development at universities. The aim is to create a Germany-wide network that brings together expertise from biology, medicine, pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmacology and immunotherapy. The budget provided amounts to a total of 20 million euros. This will fund the three research projects THUNDER, TACTIC and CAR Factory for five years.
